Water Treatment
Water treatment in the water and wastewater industry involves multiple stages designed to purify water for safe consumption or environmentally responsible discharge. The process typically begins with pre-treatment, including screening and sedimentation to remove large particles. This is followed by primary treatment, which physically separates suspended solids. Secondary treatment uses biological methods to break down and remove organic matter. The final step—disinfection—employs chemicals or ultraviolet light to eliminate harmful pathogens. In some cases, advanced technologies such as membrane filtration and reverse osmosis are used to meet higher purity requirements. The primary goals of water treatment are to provide clean, safe water and to reduce the environmental impact of wastewater discharge.
